Mauro Patricelli, composer and pianist, lives between Copenhagen, Paris and Bologna.
Born in Ortona, in the Italian region of Abruzzo in 1969. After obtaining his degree in Classical piano, he continued his education in numerous Italian institutions of music. Such as the Imola International Piano Academy and the Conservatory of Bologna.
At the same time he pursued an interdisciplinary education by combining musicological and historical studies and obtained his Masters degree in Oriental History at the University of Bologna.
In 2000, after a wide-ranging career as a classical pianist he made his debut as a composer at the Teatro Marrucino in Chieti (Italy) with a dramatic chamber piece in which he experimented with his own style of minimalistic song influenced by folk music.
For his recent projects he has received grants by several Italian and Danish institutions such as Fondazione di Imola, Statens Kunst Fond, DJBFA.
He is currently engaged in a new venture, a chamber opera based on a libretto extracted from Colomba by Dacia Maraini, which was commissioned by Teatro Stabile Abruzzese.
