ABOUT US

FINISDUO, by the saxophonist Gianni Bardaro and the pianist Mauro Patricelli, is an example of the blending of the elements of classical and jazz music. The performance is more than just the juxtaposition of two kinds of music. It requires the performers to embellish the written music as well as improvise at given sections, much in the spirit of jazz and in the true tradition of Baroque music in such a manner that the listener is often unsure where the written music stops and the improvisations take over. Together with works written by Gianni Bardaro and Mauro Patricelli themselves, Finisduo will perform the revised and newly engraved 97 edition of the Alto Sax and Piano Sonata, a "classic" cross-over work by the jazz-legend Phil Woods. The Bardaro – Patricelli Finis Duo is based in Copenhagen, where the two musicians met and merged their common cultural roots with their international experience.

Gianni Bardaro, Italian composer and saxophonist, lives between Copenhagen and Rome. “"His own lyricism combined with his artistic spiritual inspiration makes him part of the new composer wave. His playing, inspired by the dynamic power of sounds, offers an unforgettable experience, inviting the listener to live in the breath of the escaping moment… ..." Gianni’s latest work, recorded in New York City with the collaboration of Multi-Grammy Award winner Randy Brecker and Colombian percussionist Samuel Torres, is a vivid example of those characteristics.Born in Formia, in the Italian region of Lazio, Gianni started to play the saxophone at the age of 11. After obtaining his degree in saxophone with the best mark at the Conservatory of Music in Latina, he expanded his education in different Italian institutions of music such as Accademia Romana di Jazz, Arts Academy Istituzione Sinfonica di Roma and at the same time he attended private lessons and seminars with several musicians such as Bob Mover, Agostino Di Giorgio, Fabrizio Sferra, Danilo Rea, Giovanni Tommaso, Maurizio Gianmarco, Mario Raja. During those years, Gianni won the International Competition of Baronissi Jazz, in the New Talent Category. A few years later he earned a 2nd place award with the Orchestra Jazz a Majella (JAM) in the Professional Category.In 2001, after his graduation in Jazz Music with best mark, at the Conservatorium of Music in Naples under the guidance of Bruno Tommaso, Gianni receives a major grant by the Young Italian Artists Association. The years spent in Naples are characterized by major collaborations with prominent Italian musicians such as Bruno Tommaso , Maria Pia De Vito, Pietro Condorelli, Pippo Matino, Aldo Bassi, Agostino Di Giorgio, David Boato, Francesco e Pierluigi Villani, Mimmo Napolitano, Daniele Esposito, Giampiero Virtuoso, Alberto D’Anna, Salvatore Tranchini, Pino Iodice, Pietro Iodice, Vittorio Pepe and many others.The same year he is inspired by the Synaesthesia phenomenon and under the project Sinestetic Jazz, writes the jazz ballad Song for Dicembre. The song is early published and distributed in Europe by the Philips Expanium with an edition of 20.000 copies. In 2002 Gianni is admitted to attend 1 year at the Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium of Copenhagen, improving further studies in Jazz Composition and Jazz Improvisation. In Denmark he studies under the guidance of acclaimed Danish musicians like Lars Møller, Jesper Bodilsen, Morten Lund, Niels Thybo, Christina Von Bülow, Thomas Agergaar, Birthe Skou and attends seminars with musicians of international importance like Cesar Lopez and Alvaro Collado, members of bands such as Irakere and Los Van Van, Andres Alen, Emilio Morales, Jorge Reyes, Luis Valdes Chicoy Martha Duarte, Francisco Padron, Girardo Piloto, Luis Abreu Hernandez, Cesar (Pupy) Pedroso Alexander Abreu Manresa, Enrique Pla, Luis "Luisito" Abreu. Although Gianni focuses on jazz, during the Scandinavian period he intensifies and expands the horizons of his eclectic activity through to Pop music, Latin, Electronic music and Techno. As a composer and songwriter, he collaborates with several record labels, among them the Warner Bros Italy Chappell. Also, he played for the Danish Royal Family and in the Danish public television channel DR2. The improved experimentation with electronic music leads Gianni to some important collaborations such as with the English label 32bit Records which released the EP Scandango and with Modern Activism Records by Culturaelettronica which publishes the EP ElectrOneBar and a commission to mix with his talents one of the fathers of electronic music, Kirk Degiorgio.2008 is a continuous crescendo and very significant year. His project Sinestetic Jazz, receives international recognition with the publication of the CD "Overflow". The positive feedback takes Gianni to participate in international jazz festivals and major events. He is invited to participate as special guest from Denmark at the Balticness Project founded and promoted by the Community of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) playing for the presence of the Prime Ministers of the Baltic Countries and together with jazz performers among the most acclaimed in the Baltics such as Neff Irizarry, Villu Veski, Deniss Pashkevich, Sofia Rubina, Jukka Eskola, Sebastian Studnitzky, Seth Sharp, Liudas Mockunas, Erling Wicklund, Jan Freicher, David Goloshekin, and Karl-Martin Almqvist. The Italian Public channel RAI Radio 3, in the program Jazz Suite, broadcast a live concert recorded during the Italian tour with Sinestetic Jazz. The CD Overflow was also released by Jazzengine in Italy and distributed in attached with the magazine Jazzit. In September he participated as a leader at the international jazz festivals in Colombia and Panama, sharing the stage with artists such as Ron Carter, Mike Stern, Arturo Sandoval, Toquinho, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Chano Dominguez, Erik Truffaz, Samuel Torres, John Benitez. As confirmed by the official statistics of the festivals, Gianni’s concerts were attended by an overall attendance of about 17.000 people. A month later, he was invited once again by the CBSS to perform at the 10th anniversary of CBSS - Council of the Baltic Sea States in Stockholm. In 2009, besides keeping touring and collaborating with local projects, Gianni started the crossover project FINISDUO as co-leader with pianist and composer Mauro Patricelli. Soon the debut CD Phil Woods Sonata is published for the Gateway Music. It contains the revised and newly recorded 97 editions of the Alto Sax and Piano Sonata, a "classic" crossover work by the jazz-legend Phil Woods and original compositions that are more than just the juxtaposition of two kinds of music. Mauro Patricelli, composer and pianist, lives between Copenhagen, Paris and Bologna.

Born in Ortona, in the Italian region of Abruzzo in 1969. After obtaining his degree in Classical piano, he continued his education in numerous Italian institutions of music. Such as the Imola International Piano Academy and the Conservatory of Bologna.

At the same time he pursued an interdisciplinary education by combining musicological and historical studies and obtained his Masters degree in Oriental History at the University of Bologna.

In 2000, after a wide-ranging career as a classical pianist he made his debut as a composer at the Teatro Marrucino in Chieti (Italy) with a dramatic chamber piece in which he experimented with his own style of minimalistic song influenced by folk music.

For his recent projects he has received grants by several Italian and Danish institutions such as Fondazione di Imola, Statens Kunst Fond, DJBFA.

He is currently engaged in a new venture, a chamber opera based on a libretto extracted from Colomba by Dacia Maraini, which was commissioned by Teatro Stabile Abruzzese.
